Ecotop Foundation is a distinguished non-profit organization operating in the Alto Beni Region and closely affiliated with ECOTOP SRL. As a private institution, the foundation abides by the Constitution of Bolivia, adhering to the general and specific regulations established within the country.
Ecotop Foundation is dedicated to promoting a transformative paradigm that fosters a profound understanding and respect for the principles of life. Through a holistic approach, we strive to generate innovative approaches and sustainable alternatives for ecological production and leadership development.
Our mission at Ecotop Foundation is to collaboratively develop new perspectives in sustainable and ecological production. By catalyzing changes in attitudes and aptitudes within producer families, social organizations, and public and private institutions, we aim to actively participate in institutional networks and platforms as agents of change.
Ecotop Foundation partners with farmers to implement successional agroforestry systems (SAFS), which integrate diverse trees and crops based on the principles of natural succession. Through this approach, crops and trees are strategically organized into pioneer, secondary, and primary species, maximizing spatial and temporal occupancy to achieve high density and diversity. This results in soil regeneration, accumulation of organic matter, improved microclimate, and effective pest management.
Utilizing a personalized diagnostic approach for each production system, Ecotop designs alternative solutions and provides comprehensive training in the management practices of dynamic agroforestry systems. This expertise extends to various crops, including cocoa, catering to both small and large-scale farmers.
The remarkable diversity within the SAFS system not only enables high yields across multiple crops but also provides invaluable environmental services such as soil regeneration, organic matter accumulation, enhanced microclimate, and effective pest control. This approach allows for productive outcomes without relying on external inputs.
